Frequently asked questions:
What is the difference between a Conversion and a Duplication?
Conversion is the process of converting (or transferring) your tape to a DVD format. It requires ‘playing out’ the entire tape. Duplication is the process of copying the newly converted DVD (or existing DVD that you bring in). Patriot duplicates DVDs and Audio CDs in any quantity.
How long will a videotape last?
Videotape has an average shelf life of about 20 years. The magnetic tape starts to deteriorate and all those treasured memories are at risk. Adverse climate conditions such as heat and humidity can further decrease the tape’s shelf life. We recommend bringing in your tapes as soon as possible for the highest quality transfer.
Do you ship my precious tapes anywhere for conversion?
Absolutely not! All tape transfers are processed in our alarm-secured facility.
Can I combine tapes?
We can combine tapes, but the best pricing is converting each tape to a single DVD. When you bring your tapes in we can assess your project and give you the best price possible.
How long does it take to convert?
It depends on the quantity, but if you have 1 videotape it could be done in a day or so. Film jobs also depend on how much, but the average time table is 7-14 working days.
Can you add music or cut out parts?
Yes. We have an edit bay that you can sit in and/or instruct us in adding music, narration, titles or cutting out unwanted areas to take your DVD to the next level.
